Mug Shots by Jon

The Berlin Mug, can’t recall where I got this from. Possible when my Grandparents went to Germany. Nice heavy base.

The Zeus. A present from my mom. For a few years I would get one of these mugs each done by a different artist. I will post a pic of each later.

“whoa-bong water”

17 Jun

We sampled a beer called Baby Tree (8.6%) for Beer Club recently.  It’s from Pretty Things Brewery based out of Cambridge, MA.

Description:
“A belgian-style quadrupel brewed with dried plums. Very lightly spiced finish with a sweet and fruity aftertaste”.

The general consensus amongst members was not favourable to multiple pours.  No doubt one can taste the plums, but I wouldn’t say it was delicious.  In fact,  my initial reaction was “whoa…bong water”.  Now, if the taste of bong water is your thing, then this is the beer for you.

That said, I would love to get my hands on some of the other beers offered by Pretty Things.

Here’s a quote from the bio:
Jack stands on this side of the Atlantic Ocean, where he has been brought and given many new leases on life. With a great, gleaming moustache, knee-deep in a wooden mash tun, he conjures himself into beer. Helped along by the other “Pretty Things” like the mischievous hops and the transformative miniscules we know as yeast – a magnificent fester would no doubt ensue! One of the most joyful transformations in nature, better than any rabbit from a hat, beer is the result.  That is the inspiration of Pretty Things!
